How to Add Social Media Share Buttons to WordPress

1. Jetpack

Jetpack is a very popular WordPress plugin created by Automattic for WordPress.com websites. With its Sharing module, you can add Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr and many more networks to your blog posts, page, archives etc. This gives you 4 different styles for social share buttons.

If you want to use Jetpack social share buttons on your site, you have to sign up for it. But if you are already using it, then let’s go ahead and add social share buttons to your site.

First click on Jetpack >> Settings >> Sharing.

Here, under the Sharing buttons section, turn on the Add sharing buttons to your posts button.

Now you need to click on Settings >> Sharing.

In the Sharing buttons section, drag the Social button from the Available Services to the Enabled Services box.

2. Social Warfare

Social Warfare is a lightweight plugin and comes with highly customizable options. With this plugin, you can add social share buttons on the homepage, archive page and post.

Currently, Social Warfare supports Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Mix.

First, install and activate Social Warfare plugin on your site. Once activated, it will add a new menu item to your WordPress dashboard with Social Warfare. Just click on it. This will take you to the settings page of the plugin.

Under Social Networks, drag the Social button to Active box from Inactive.

In addition, the plugin allows to set position (You can place buttons before and/or after a blog post) and share counts. If you want to add Floating Share Buttons to your WordPress site, then the plugin also allows it. You can also choose a position (Top, Bottom, Left, Right) for Floating Share Buttons.

Social Pug adds beautiful social share buttons to your WordPress site. You can customize it according to the design of your website.

The free version support top five social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

First, install and activate Social Pug plugin on your site. Once activated, it will add a new menu item to your WordPress dashboard with Social Pug. Just click on it. This will take you to the settings page of the plugin.

In the next step, select which sharing buttons you want to use on your site – Floating Sidebar or Inline Content. After selecting your favourites, click on Settings.
