When you visit popular websites or blogs, they use search box toggle or full-screen toggle. In this article, I’ll show you how to add WordPress search toggle in WordPress Navigation menu.
Why should Add WordPress Search Toggle
You can easily provide content to your visitor by adding WordPress Search toggles to your site, that means visitors can easily search your site’s content by using the search toggle.
The most important thing is that it takes very little space compared to the search bar. When you click on it, it expands.
So let’s get strated…
To add a search icon to WordPress menu,
Ivory Search is a simple WordPress search plugin. It improves the default WordPress search functionality and also allows you to create new custom search forms.
With Ivory Search, you can create an unlimited number of search forms on your site and configure each search form individually for different types of searches. Also, the plugin allows you to add custom search forms on site header, footer, sidebar or widget area, navigation or menu, on pages, posts, custom post types or anywhere.
Once activated, it will add a new menu item in your WordPress dashboard with Ivory Search. Just click on it. Here you will see the default search form already. You can edit it or make new (Ivory Search >> Add new).
I will use the default search form. Simply click on Edit.
In this page, you can select post types that you want to make searchable.
Here you can customize your search toggle according to your needs.
Next, click on Ivory Search >> Settings. This will take you to the plugin settings page. Select the menu (Primary or Top menu) where you want to display the search form.
You can also choose the form style (which looks good) for the search form displayed in the menu and provide a title for your search toggle.
Now Navigate to Settings and select your search form. You can see screenshot below.
Do not forget to click the Save button to store your settings.
That’s it! Now your search toggle will start appearing in your WordPress header nav menu.
If you want to add Google search in your WordPress Navigation menu, then you need to create a Google Custom Search Engine ID by going to the Google Custom Search Engine site. Then paste the Search Engine ID in “Google CSE” box.
Once you’re done configuring the settings, click on the “Save
