Do you want to disable trackback and pingback from your WordPress site? WordPress Trackback and Pingback is a special feature of WordPress that notifies us via Comment when a blogger links to our posts.
However, now this feature is used mostly by spammers and they use this feature to send spam to another website using trackbacks. So in today’s article, we will show you how to disable Trackback and pingback from your existing WordPress posts.
If you use the Akismet plugin, then this plugin will help you avoid such spam.
Disable Trackback and Pingback from WordPress
You can disable WordPress Trackback and Pingback by going to the default setting section of your WordPress site.
To disable these trackbacks pingbacks, you have to click on Settings >> Discussion option. Then uncheck “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles” box.
However, this setting only disables WordPress pingback and trackbacks for new articles that you publish. But WordPress Trackback and pingback will still turn on in your old posts. And whenever you linking them, then it will send in a trackback in the comment box.
Disable Trackback and Pingback from Old WordPress Posts
First, you have to go to Posts >> All Posts page. After this, you have to select All posts. As you can see in the screenshot below,
After this you have to select the “Edit” button from Bulk Actions and click on the “Apply” button.
Now you will get a new option in which you will see the pings option. You have to change it to “Do not allow”.
Now, click the Update button to store your changes. Now, WordPress will stop sending pings from your selected posts.
