Essential settings in Google Search Console tool
First, open your Search console account, then select your added site and follow this article to configure most important settings of Google Search Console tool.
So let’s start……
1. Add all versions of the site
Add your site with www, non-www, HTTP or HTTPS in your Google Search Console. So that any problem can be detected in any version.
If you use HTTPS on your site, then add with HTTPS.
2. www or non-www
If you use www or non-www on your site, then you have to add the site in the same order to Google webmaster tools. You can select it from the search console setting. As you can see in the screenshot below,
You can select the format for your site in which you want to open.
3. Select Target Country for your site
Select a target country for your website so that the data shown in Search Console is accordingly. To add target country to your site, you have to go to Search Traffic >> International Targeting >> Country, then select your target country and click save button.
4. Submit Sitemap
It is very important to submit a website sitemap, with the help of this, the search engine is able to find out how many posts and page are posted on our site. After submitting a Sitemap, you can see how many posts are indexed in Google.
To add a Sitemap, you have to go to Crawl >> Sitemap, then click on Add / Test Sitemap and Submit Sitemap.
If your blog is on WordPress then submit “/sitemap_index.xml” sitemap.
5. Connect with Google Analytics
If you add Google Analytic to your google webmaster tools, you will be able to get your site’s stats (what people search on your site etc….) in Analytic account.
To connect Google Analytics with Search Console, click on “Connect Search Console to Google Analutics” link.
Now you have to select your site which is added to the webmaster tools. After that, you have to select the account of Google Analytics for your website.
