How to Change Mobile Number in SBI

Do you want to change mobile number in SBI Bank account? If your mobile number is registered with your bank account, then you can see all your transactions and you will also get an alert in case of any suspicious transaction with your account.

SBI offers several ways to change the registered mobile number in the bank account. Today in this article, I will tell you how to change mobile number in your SBI account online or update it with a new number.

How to Change Mobile Number in SBI

To change registered mobile number in SBI follow the steps given below:

  • Login to your OnlineSBI (https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm) account using login credentials.
  • Click on My Account & Profile and click on the Profile option.
  • Then click on the Personal Details link.
  • Enter your profile password and you will see your name, email ID and registered mobile number.
  • Click on the Change Mobile number -Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre) link.
  • Now you will see a new screen Personal Details-Mobile Number Update with three tabs ‘Create Request‘, ‘Cancel Request‘ and ‘Status‘.
  • Click on the Create Request option and enter your new number.
  • Now a pop-up message (Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx) will appear. Just click on OK.
  • For mobile number change approval, you will see a new screen with three different methods:-
    • By OTP on both the Mobile Number
    • IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM
    • Approval through Contact Centre

Here I will change the mobile number in SBI using all three methods…

By OTP on both the Mobile Number

If you have both old and new mobile numbers, you can change the registered mobile number in SBI Bank account using OTP.

  • Select ‘By OTP on both the mobile number‘ option.
  • Then click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  • On the next page, select the account for which you have a debit card and click on Proceed.
  • You will be redirected to the State Bank of India’s ATM card Validation screen. Where you will be shown active & closed ATM cards associated with the selected account.
  • Select Active ATM card and click on ‘Confirm‘ button.
  • In the next screen, the selected ATM card number will be displayed. Enter card details: – (Valid To / Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN, Captcha)
  • Then click on the Proceed button.
  • After validation, OTP will be sent to your old and new mobile number along with the reference number.
  • You have to send an SMS within 4 hours like the format stated: – ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number> to 567676 (eg ACTIVATE 12345678 UM12051500123)
  • After OTP and reference number verification, the mobile number will be changed in your SBI bank account and the new mobile number will be updated.

IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM

  • Select the option “IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM“.
  • Then click on the ‘Proceed‘ button.
  • On the next page, select the account for which you have a debit card and click on Proceed.
  • You will be redirected to the State Bank of India’s ATM card Validation screen. Where you will be shown active & closed ATM cards associated with the selected account.
  • Select Active ATM card and click on ‘Confirm‘ button.
  • The selected ATM card number will be displayed on the next screen. Enter card details: – (Valid To / Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN, Captcha)
  • Then click on the Proceed button.
  • After validation, the reference number will be sent to your new mobile number.
  • Go to any State Bank ATM, swipe your card, select ‘Services‘ and input your PIN.
  • On the ATM screen, click on Others and choose the Internet Banking Request Approval option. After this, input your 10-digit reference number.

… and the mobile number will be changed in your SBI Bank account.

Approval through Contact Centre

  • Select Approval through Contact Center option.
  • Then click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  • On the next page, select the account for which you have a debit card and click on Proceed.
  • You will be redirected to the State Bank of India’s ATM card Validation screen. Where you will be shown active & closed ATM cards associated with the selected account.
  • Select Active ATM card and click on ‘Confirm‘ button.
  • In the next screen, the selected ATM card number will be displayed. Enter card details: – (Valid To / Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN, Captcha)
  • Then click on the Proceed button.
  • After validation, the reference number will be sent to your new mobile number.
  • You will get a call from the bank on your new mobile number within 3 days. Before sharing your bank’s personal details, ask the reference number from the bank person.
  • After the verification, the mobile number of your SBI Bank account will be changed.

How to Change Registered Mobile Number in SBI Using ATM

  • First swipe your card and choose the ‘Registration‘ option from the menu.
  • Then enter your ATM PIN and select the Update Your Mobile Number (or Change Mobile Number) option.
  • Enter your old phone number and click on the Correct option.
  • After this enter your new mobile number and click on the Correct option.
  • Now you will get OTP on both your old and new numbers. If you do not have an old number, just send an SMS from your new number to 567676.
  • After successful verification, your new mobile number will be updated in your SBI Bank Account.
