Plus Google focuses more on quality content and provides a top rank in the search result. However, when Google ranks content, it uses a variety of ranking factors. But content quality is still very important.
If you publish low-quality content / thin content on your site, then Google will decrease your site ranking. So, only publish quality and informative content on your site.
2. Length of Your Content
Your content length is very important in the search engine. Long content performs better in search engines compared to short content. So always try to write detailed, high-quality, lengthy posts.
But keep one thing in mind, do not write nonsense things to increase your content length. Because when the visitors will read your content, they will not like to come back to your site again.

You should write any post according to your topic requirement. But any post must be at least 300 words.
3. Keyword Research
Keyword Research belongs to SEO and it is the foundation of SEO.
Regularly publishing unique and very useful articles on your blog, but do not do Keyword Research, your site will not rank in Google search engines and will not be able to get organic traffic.

Always select low competition and high searches keywords and you can use Google AdWords Keyword Planner for this.
4. Use Long Tail Keywords
More than three words called “Long Tail Keywords”. Long Tail helps the search engine to understand post content.
So Long Tail Keywords can play an important role to increase organic traffic to your blog. These are very targeted.
For example, I’m looking for an on-Page SEO article, so I will not search by writing SEO only. Because I will not find the exact result. That’s why I will search for OnPage SEO.
Very few searches are done in a search engine by Short Tail Keywords because they do not give accurate results.

Also, visitors do not like to visit the slow loading site. They immediately exit the slow loading site and do not visit the site again.
Fast loading affects both website ranking & user experience and ranks well in the search result.

6. Use SEO friendly URLs
SEO friendly URL also belongs to onPage SEO. It helps the search engine understand what your post is about. Also, try to make your URL smaller and readable.
WordPress’s default URL structure is not SEO friendly and it looks something like this.
But do not worry, you can easily make it SEO friendly. Just click on the Settings >> Permalinks option and select “Post name”.
If your site is too old, leave it. Otherwise, your shared URL will start showing 404 errors.
7. Link Old Articles with New Articles
When you link your old article in your new article, it is called internal linking. It has many benefits,
- Link juice passes.
- Boost Pageviews.
- Reduce Bounce rate.
- Make your content more informative and user-friendly.

Backlinks are very old Google ranking factors. This helps to increase your site’s domain authority, traffic and ranking.
But bad/spammy/buy/low-quality backlinks can greatly harm your website’s ranking. Your site will not rank better in Google. Your content will rank in the 10th page of the search result or not appear in search results.
To increase your website traffic, always try to create high-quality backlinks. 100 quality backlinks equal 1000 low-quality backlinks.

9. Move Your Site from HTTP to HTTPS
Google just wants a more secure web. Therefore Google is using HTTPS as a ranking factor and HTTPS enabled sites rank better in SERPs.

10. Optimize Title and Meta Descriptions
Write your blog post title Always Attractive and Unique. In SERPs, this makes a significant impact on visitors. If your title does not attract visitors, they will not click on your content. No matter how good your article is.
Use 50-60 characters for the title. If you use more than 50-60 characters for your title, then it will not be fully visible in the search result. Furthermore, add your main keyword at the beginning of the post title. This helps you get a good rank in the search result. But, your keyword should be low-competition and people search for that keyword.
Your meta description is the text that appears below the title in the search results. It helps to increase Click Through Rate (CTR) on your content. Use your Main Keyword in Meta description as well. Google usually allows writing 150-160 characters for meta descriptions.
11. Avoid Keyword Stuffing
Do not put too much or forcefully keywords while writing content, it is called Keyword Stuffing. This creates a bad user experience on the reader and Google does not like it at all.
You think filling keywords on the blog post will drive more traffic to your blog, but it has the opposite effect. This strategy leads your site to search penalty.
12. Make Your Site Mobile Friendly
The number of mobile users has increased a lot and it has completely dominated the desktop search. That’s why Google is also using mobile friendliness as a ranking factor to improve the mobile user experience.
If your site is not mobile friendly, Google will reduce your site ranking for mobile search and your site will not rank better in Google search results and you will lose a lot of traffic for your site.

13. Optimize Your Site’s Images
Images can help a lot to drive traffic on your site. So it is very important, use the proper name and ALT Tag for your site images. This helps you get good traffic from image search.

14. Enter Your Main Keyword in The First 100 Words
Use your main keyword once in the 100 to 150 words of the article. This helps Google understand what your content is about. Also, link important posts to your first paragraph of the content. It makes your content more SEO friendly and your content performs better in the search result.
15. Check The Site’s Visibility Settings
WordPress comes with a built-in Search Engine Visibility setting which prevents search engine bots from crawling and indexing your site. If you accidentally check this option, search engines will stop indexing and crawling your site. As a result, your site will not appear in search result.
To check this, log in to your WordPress site then navigate to Settings >> Readings page and uncheck the Search Engine Visibility option.
16. Check Robots.txt File
Robots.txt is a small text file that is found in the root folder of your site. This prevents search engine bots from crawling and indexing specific directories or pages of your site. 17. Regularly Publish Fresh and New Posts
Google gives more priority to those blogs that regularly publish posts. This enhances both your ranking and blog reader. But your content should be informative and useful. Visitors like to read those blogs that publish content daily with new and unique ideas.
If you publish 4 posts a week but do not publish anything next week, then your strategy is worse than publishing two posts a week.
18. Fix Broken Links on the Website
Broken Links (404 not found) affects both your site ranking and user experience. If your site has too many broken links, Google will slowly crawl your site. Search Engine (Google) will understand that the website owner does not maintain the site well.
Also, when a visitor visits such a site which has a very high number of Broken Links, then he does not like to go back to that site.
Suppose you visit a site and when you click any link, you see a 404 not found error, so would you like to visit the site again?
Thankfully, WordPress.org has a free Broken Link Checker plugin that helps to fix internal and external broken links on your site. Also, this plugin automatically sets the ‘nofollow’ tag for Broken Link so that search engines do not follow them.
19. Check The Errors That Occur in Google Webmaster Tools
Regularly check errors in Google Webmaster Tools such as mobile issues, security issues and crawl errors. If there are too many errors on your site, Google will crawl your site very slowly To speed up Crawl process, fix those errors as soon as possible.
Also, take care of the security issues that occur in Google Webmaster Tools. The reason when Webmaster Tools notifies you for security issues but you do not take it seriously, Google will reduce your site’s ranking. So this may also be a reason for not getting traffic on your site.
20. Set Nofollow Tag for Affiliate Links and Untrusted Links
Affiliate Links and untrusted/spammy links cause great damage to your site’s ranking. If you add affiliate links and untrusted links to your content, then set rel = “nofollow” tags for them.

22. Heading Tags
The H1 tag helps the search engine understand what your page is about, and boost your ranking. But the rest of the heading tags do not play a vital role for your site.
There are several WordPress themes in the market that do not use the H1 tag for the title. If you use such a theme for your blog or website, you should use the H1 tag for your title. Never use the H1 tag more than once.

This tool helps you find ranking keywords easily on your site. In the next step, you have to monitor your competitor’s website. You will need SEMrush and Ahrefs tool for this. These tools provide detailed insights about your competitor’s website.
32. Track Your Website Traffic and User Engagement
When you start receiving some traffic on your blog, track them – Where the traffic is coming from? What people actually want to read on your blog? After analyzing all these data, you can create a better plan and create content for your website users according to their needs. You can use Google Analytics Tool for this.
Also, when a user asks a question in the comments section, create a beautiful and informative article on it. Like that user, there will be many users who are searching articles for that question.
33. Add Image to Your Post
1 image equals 1,000 words. But the image should be related to your content.

Guest post is also a very effective way to increase your blog traffic. When you submit a guest post on popular blogs and visitors of that blog likes your post, they will also like to visit your website. This will increase your website page views. And maybe they start visiting your blog regularly.

40. Create Email List
Email marketing can generate 20-30% traffic easily on your site. By email, you can invite users to read your blog posts.
If you want to collect the user’s email, first you need to add a good Email Subscription box to your blog.
41. Create a Sitemap for Your Site
Sitemap does not boost your site traffic, but help search engines better crawl and index your website content.
If you are using Yoast SEO or Jetpack on your site, they allow you to easily create XML Sitemaps.

The Cache plugin is very important for any WordPress site. The main goal of the Cache plugin is to improve the user experience by reducing the page speed of your site. This makes your site super fast and reduces the load on your server.

43. Use SEO Plugin
SEO plugin makes your WordPress site even more SEO friendly. This gives you full control over indexing. Apart from this, you can write a custom title and meta description for your content.

44. Set Noindex for Category and Tag Page
If you index the Category and Tag pages in the search engine, then these pages can generate a duplicate content issue for your site in the search engine. This can reduce both your traffic and ranking. Even Google can penalize your site.
45. Set No-index for Author Archives
If you are the owner of a Single-Author Blog, keep the Author Archives disabled. Because there will be the same content on both the Author Archives and Homepage. This will cause duplicate contents issue. You can use the WordPress SEO plugin to disable or no-index the author pages.
46. Use CDN
CDN improves your site performance. It creates a Cache version of your site on its servers and serves content to users through the servers that are closest to the user’s locations. This reduces server load and improves the website loading speed.
There are lots of CDN services available in the market. Currently, I use CloudFlare on my site. This is a very popular CDN service that provides free SSL also in the free plan.
47. Use Modifiers Word in Your Title
Words like “2019”, “best”, “guide”, “checklist”, “fast” and “review” are called modifier words. They put a good impression on the user as well as making your title attractive.
48. Use External Link in Your Content
When you link the external site to your content, you have to take care of many things – the content of that site should be relevant to your site or be useful, that site should not be spammy, its DA and PA should also be good etc.
This technique makes your content even more useful for visitors. In addition, helps to search engine understands what your content is about.
49. Use Related Keyword in Content
If you use only focus keywords in your content, then it is not good according to on-page SEO. Use related keywords in your content with focus keywords. So that search engines can better understand your content and rank them on the first page.
50. Maintain Keyword Density in Content
In any post, keyword density should be 1.5% – 2%. If your content is small (700 words) and you use your focus keyword in it too much (10 or 11 times), then it is not good for SEO. Your content will never rank in Google and it will be treated as spam content by Google.
Frequent use of focus / main keyword, use Related / LSI keywords in your content.
51. Updated with Google Algorithms
It is very important to be updated with Google algorithms. If you do not pay attention to Google’s algorithms, you will not be able to achieve success in blogging. There are many blogs that get lots of traffic from Google. But due to the updates of Google algorithms, their traffic dramatically decreased.
Therefore it is very important to keep an eye on Google algorithms and update your blog with new algorithms.
These are the strategies that will help you to increase your website traffic or blog traffic. But you can not boost your traffic overnight. This is a long time process. You have to be a little patience.
But keep one thing in mind, Quality content is very important. If you use all of these techniques on your site but do not pay attention to quality content, then all your efforts are useless. Google will not rank your content in search results.
